I was really excited about all of the fun projects I'm working on,
but also excited to postpone them to run errands. First I wrapped a
Valentine present to send to my mom: something sweet and something
inspirational, plus a few heartfelt words. I used some fancy tissue
paper my wife had received an order of luxury glossy pantyhose in. I
love being resourceful like that, finding the perfect thing in the
recycling bin!
I got the parcel shipped without any waiting in line and picked up our mail. We're getting *a lot* of 1099s because
we get checks all year from so many different sources.
Speaking of checks, there were two of them today.
The biggest one was made out to my wife, but I love going to the bank
and seeing all of the friendly bank tellers. They always have a nice
compliment for me, and I enjoy returning the favor. The pretty brunette
said she was thinking of going blonde. I told her no way, because her
brown is the perfect rich, deep, warm color. On the way out to the car I
thought about suggesting a few lowlights just to add dimension. Maybe I
will next time I see her. I'm older and more experienced than them so I
know my advice will carry some weight.

Figuring
out dinner wasn't bringing us any pleasure, so we spontaneously decided
to go out for sushi. It's been SO LONG since we did that! Well, at this
particular restaurant in town with only each other. My wife fixed her
hair, put on some light makeup and knee-high suede boots and I drove us
to town.
It's a very small and popular place. They
don't take reservations, but we got perfect seats at the sushi bar right
away even though the place was 95% packed. There were no kids or babies
or grotesquely perfumed women or people talking on phones . . . just a
perfect din of chatter all around us.
I leaned in close
to my beautiful wife and told her in a low voice, "you know we're in
the middle of this place and everything around us is just for us . . .
these people are just here to provide ambiance for our experience." I
know that's not true and would be insanely weird if it were, but that's
what it felt like. Everything was perfect and we were floating in the
middle of it.
We didn't overdo it . . . started with
miso soup then shared 4 pieces of buttery yellowtail and an una-ten
roll, enjoying the nutty flavor of brown rice tea.
Afterwards
we strolled farther downtown to the ice cream parlor. I had my favorite
flavor of ice cream (lemon custard) on a sugar cone. My adorable wife
had a hot fudge sundae with black forest ice cream. Nuts, but no whipped
cream. There were women knitting and talking about genealogy in the
booth behind us and a couple of locals we recognized in the booth in
front of us. They were either working on the enneagram or their
astrological natal charts . . . I don't know enough about either to know
for certain based on the figures spread out on the table. Fortunately
nobody tried to chat with us.
It's 9:27 pm now and I'm
looking forward to spending the next four hours or so creating ways to
make money. While other people are out getting drunk and acting stupid
on Friday night, ruining their health for Saturday, I'll be setting up
more creative and fun revenue streams! My wife's also making money
tonight so that works out great.
And if I'm not too tired I know she'll let me sex her up.
